For “action” cameras, we used to be a GoPro house, but recently we’ve switched over to DJI cameras. Our main reason for doing so was their built-in wireless mic receiver. The Action 5 allows you to receive two transmitters from either the DJI Mic 2 or The DJI Mic Mini, both of which we also rent. So, you are no longer reliant on just the onboard mics for audio, you can actually get professional lapel mics recorded onboard. One other major reason was the Action 5’s ability to power without a battery having to be present in the body. We include a Y cable that lets you take power into the camera and record in 4K while simultaneously sending 1080P video out of the camera over an HDMI connection. Need to pipe a shot of the drum kit into your band’s livestream? This lets you do it easily.
Aside from that, it has many other great options: 10bit LOG recording, long battery life even in the cold, 4K at 60fps, great stabilization and many other features. The cherry on top is that you can use all the mounting hardware you may already have (and we have plenty) from GoPro’s ecosystem.
