Our Teradek Bolts are great units and are the standard for when you need uncompressed wireless video with zero delay, which is important if you are trying to pull focus or interact with the video in real time. However if immediacy isn’t paramount, by converting your video source into a “computer” Wifi stream, this Accsoon unit opens up a whole world of usage possibilities. The conversion process adds a few fames of delay, but it means that you are able to monitor your video source on any Android or iOS device simply by downloading Accsoon’s free app and logging into the stream. You then have a thin, light, battery powered “video monitor” in your pocket with scopes, false colour, focus peaking, the ability to input LUTs and the ability to record and playback.
Phone monitoring is convenient, but watching on a 5″ screen is not an ideal solution for Video Villages where quality and performance judgements have to be made. That’s where the rest of this kit comes into play. The transmitter accepts pro HD signals either via HD-SDI or HDMI and creates the stream which can then be viewed by up to 4 devices. Those 4 devices can either be phones/tablets or any of the three receivers included in this kit. The receivers essentially have the computer innards of a phone, but output the signal to a an external monitor. All three of the receivers have HDMI outs, and one of them also has an HD-SDI output. Imagine: this allows the makeup artist to watch on his/her phone, the continuity person to watch on her/his iPad, the Director to watch on a professional monitor, and the Producer to watch on an 80″ TV (or any other combination of the 4 devices).
Each of the units comes with 4 antennas, and line of sight transmission is around 1200′ under ideal conditions (your mileage will of course vary depending on the surroundings). They use dual channel Wifi transmission in the 2.4 to 5.8 MHz range, and like all Wifi devices they will automatically swap to a cleaner channel if there is interference or congestion. We include a ton of options for powering and mounting the units. They can each run off of a Sony FP-style battery, but those are extra. Let us know at the time of rental what type of signal cables you’ll require. We don’t allow de-contenting the kit for a lower price, but if you require a fourth receiver with an HDMI output, if available it can be added a la carte for $35/day.
