Aputure is rapidly taking over the lighting business and this is their most powerful non-COB light. It is a 1′ x 2′ diffused panel that comes with barndoors to shape its output. You can use the NOVA as a soft key light straight out of the box, but we also offer Aputure’s 2′ x 3′ strap-on softbox (extra) to diffuse its output even further. The softbox comes with a fabric eggcrate to limit spill. These are very high output lights so employing the softbox still allows plenty of light to reach your subject. In addition to providing soft “white” light, these are our most powerful RGB lights, so they can also fill your set with colour. Do you have a white or grey background? Now that background can be any colour you want it to be! As with most LED lights, there are a number of “effect modes” built into the NOVA’s software to emulate common lighting scenarios such as perhaps the light from a campfire or maybe a pulsing of saturated colours on your actors’ faces to represent the light from a fireworks display. A control panel clips to the back of the light and communicates via pins in its mounting clamp, or you can detach the panel from the light and extend it with an included 10′ long cable. Other control options include wired or wireless DMX, or you can download Aputure’s app and use your phone for precise wireless control. The lights come in a rolling hard case that holds everything but the included 2K stand.
