Go Oval!! This kit contains three prime anamorphics with a 2x stretch. They are a 32mm, a 50mm and an 80mm, all with a common T2.0 aperture and PL mount. These lenses are designed to cover Super 35mm sized sensors. They have a common 114mm front matte box diameter, and the 0.8 cinema gearing for focus and iris is unified at the same place on all three lenses for easy swaps. The focus has 270º of rotation. We include a lens support for 15mm handheld rods, as the 80mm is close to 6 pounds.
Why go anamorphic? It’s all about the look. That 2x stretch gives you a very wide field of view, yet with a telephoto “feel”. Lights flare dramatically, and out of focus point sources of light in the background have oval (rather than round) bokeh. Ordinarily distortion in a lens is a bad thing, but the distortion from an anamorphic lens has that particular look that just screams cinema.
