BlackMagic has thrown everything but the kitchen sink into this switcher! First, it will accept up to eight HDMI-based high definition sources. All eight inputs have frame syncs, so whatever frame rate and resolution you plug into the first HDMI port, it will automatically adjust the other seven inputs to match. Aside from “just” switching, it will also record all eight inputs and the switched Program Out as nine H.264 video streams to the provided 2 Terabyte USB-C hard drive. All nine recordings are saved as one file, along with a DaVinci Resolve project file. That project file keeps a record of all the cuts and transitions you made during the live show and automatically configures your multicam editing session to match. Then you can fine tune your show and work around any mistakes that may have happened live. Truly fix it in Post!
The switcher has a built-in streamer that can access the internet via its ethernet port, or if you want to use your own streaming software, the Program Out will come into your laptop over USB-C and show up to your operating system as a web cam. Then you can use it with OBS, Wirecast, Vmix or whatever streaming software you prefer, you can even use it as a webcam in Zoom meetings. We are including a 22″ monitor that lets monitor your eight sources, your record capacity, your audio, your stream and Program and Preview.
People love HDMI, but it’s not a great standard for cameras on a mobile, as normal HDMI cables don’t pass a good signal much more than about 8 meters. To help with that we are including two free 50 meter fiber optic HDMI cables with the switcher. That lets you place two of your cameras a fair distance away, and you can rent additional cables from us if you need to add cameras up to 100 meters away. You can input audio or take it from your HDMI signals, there are DVE’s, Keyers, media playback and all sorts of other capabilities, but the high points are this package will switch, stream and record 8 sources for not a lot of money.
