About
Almost all video you see on a computer (or TV for that matter) is massively compressed. This means that various algorithms are used to reduce the amount of data in the signal to a point where it is practical to distribute it over limited bandwidth connections, like say your home internet. The most ubiquitous encoding format used to accomplish this is a form of MPEG-4 called h.264. Ever watch Youtube or download an iTunes movie? You are likely watching an h.264 encoded signal. The Blackmagic Design H.264 Pro Recorder allows industry professionals to input high quality uncompressed signals like HD-SDI or HDMI, have them encoded as h.264 in real time, and then saved to your computer’s hard drive over a USB connection.
