About

Our Theos wireless combos come with two beltpack transmitters with lapel microphones.  That’s great for a two-person interview, but a lapel mic is not always the right choice.  If you need to roam with a stick mic or boom mic, this is the better option.  They call these plug-on transmitters: you can simply plug it into a mic with an XLR-Male connection and instantly turn it a wireless microphone.  The transmitter has a collar around its plug that tightens down to create a secure physical connection between the mic and transmitter.  The transmitter can provide 48v phantom power, and it can also accept Line level signals.  The main use case scenario for this transmitter is to let your boom microphone operator wander around independently.  As with the beltpack transmitters in the Theos line, the DXTX is able to record 32bit float digital audio to its onboard MicroSD card while simultaneously transmitting back to the receiver.  Given the wide dynamic range of 32bit it is almost impossible to overload the onboard recording but the transmitted signal could be a bit crunchy if someone started shouting, so the DXTX has an analogue limiter that will try to clamp down on hot signals and prevent any distortion from being transmitted.  The onboard recording’s timecode can be set wirelessly via the Sidus Audio app, just like the whole Theos line.  You can also change the radio frequency, trigger recording and adjust the DXTX’s output power via the app.  It runs for up to 14 hours on two AA batteries.  If you already have a Theos receiver, you can rent the DXTX alone.  Or, it can be substituted for one of the beltpack transmitters that come in our Deity Theos packages for no extra money.
