About
The RS3 takes all the goodness of the RS2 and Spinal Taps it up to 11. First, it is slightly beefier where it matters. The carbon fibre arms are a wee bit longer and thicker (while still being very light) and the motors are slightly more powerful. This allows one to mount cameras that are wider/heavier than a typical mirrorless, like the BlackMagic 6K or Sony’s FX6. Next, you no langer have to manually lock/unlock the arms of the gimbal when it’s not in use, it does it automatically when powered on. You’re now able to control start/stop on compatible cameras over bluetooth. On the RS2 you had to press a soft switch multiple times to toggle through the various modes of the gimbal, but on the RS3 those modes are assigned to a hard switch for instant control. The external focus motor is 3x stronger than the previous one, and the gimbal’s stabilization (the main reason you’re renting it) is up to 20% smoother. As with the RS2, your camera’s video can be monitored with the Raven HDMI transmitter on a phone. The RS3 includes a a second handle that attaches at 90º via a NATO mount, making low level shots much easier to get.
