These devices convert professional HD-SDI signals with their imbedded audio signals, to the consumer HDMI format. Why do this? They primarily allow one to monitor pro signals on large consumer flat screens. We have models from a number of different manufacturers. One de-imbeds the audio and offers it up separately over a 3.5mm connection, another powers itself over a USB connection (which most consumer displays these days have).
