These allow you to convert “consumer” HDMI video and imbedded audio signals, to a professional HD-SDI signal. The main reason someone might want to do this is to interface cheap consumer video cameras for use with professional systems. Generally speaking, an HDMI signal can run about 35′ before it becomes unreliable. By converting it to HD-SDI, you can run it over coaxial cable up to about 300′. The coaxial cable also has locking BNC connecters.
