HME is a respected intercom manufacturer that was snapped up by industry titan Clear Com. This is their DX210 system which operates in the 2.4 Ghz band . It comes with a base station that can live on your table top or it can be rack mounted. On set it has two antennas that screw into the back of the unit, or for better diversity (or if you have it rack mounted) one of the antennas can be remoted up to 30′ away on a light stand to increase its chances of getting a good signal. We’ve used it in places like the Convention Centre with just the rear antennas and have never had a problem.
You can plug a headset into the base station, but its really designed to be used with the eight beltpacks that come in the package. These beltpacks have padded cases with clips for going on your belt, and each beltpack has two batteries (for a total of 16 batteries in the package). There are eight single cup headsets that plug into the beltpacks, and their mic is ambidextrous. Two 4 place chargers come with the package and the whole unit ships in a Pelican 1650 case.
