These are small spotlights, probably best suited for product shots but they are capable of projecting a gobo onto a wall. The light itself is bi-colour and dimmable and comes with a detachable intensifier/reflector on the front which creates a relatively even 45º wide beam. Once the intensifier is removed the unit’s COB (chip on board) LED light source is revealed. Rather than the spotlight lens unit being attached to the light, it’s more accurate to say the light is attached to the lens using its mini-Bowens mount. The arm which previously mounted the light to a light stand is now pivoted out of the way and a forward biased stand mount on the lens body creates a better center of gravity for tilting both units together. The lens has replaceable 36º or 19º lens barrels, and you can insert a variable iris to close off the beam and narrow it even further. By loosening the locking knob on the bottom of the optics, the lens barrel can be slid back and forth in its housing to focus the output of the spotlight and create a hard-edged even beam. The unit comes with gobo patterns, and by sliding the lens one can have the edges of the gobo design either sharp or defocused. There are permanent shutter blades to mask the beam into four sided shapes. There is a gel holder that clips solidly in front of the lens. You can cut out and place whatever lighting gel you choose in the holder, but it is primarily used to add colour to the beam.
