About
A lens that takes advantage of the smaller sensor in Micro Four Thirds cameras to provide a wider zoom range than is found in almost any lens for a Full Frame camera. The constant f2.8 aperture is very fast for this zoom ratio, and it doesn’t ramp as you zoom making it ideal for video use. It has very good autofocus, but like most Olympus Pro lenses if you physically slide the focus ring towards you, a clutch engages the actual glass elements of the lens to provide true manual focus with end stops. If you are using this lens with a Blackmagic camera, their USB based focus demand works with this lens to allow electronic focusing using BlackMagic’s controller.
Micro Four Thirds sensors (sometimes referred to as M4/3) are exactly ¼ the size of a Full Frame sensor, so lenses designed for them have exactly double the focal length. In other words, this 40-150mm lens would have the equivalent field of view of a 80-300mm lens on a camera with a Full Frame sensor.
