This is the natural lens to pair with the Tamron 17-28mm. It has a nice focal range that covers a multitude of situations. It was designed from the outset as a lens for mirrorless cameras, so it’s quite a bit smaller than a traditional medium zoom lens. Most of those take a 72mm filter, but this one weighs just under 2 pounds with a 67mm filter diameter. While it is not a macro lens, it has a minimum focus distance of 7.5″ so you can really get up close to subjects. It’s a full frame E-Mount lens, and its autofocus stepping motor is silent and fast when you use it with Sony’s A7s series of cameras. Since it is designed for full frame sensors, it becomes a 42-112.5mm lens when covering the Super 35mm sized sensor on something like a Sony FS7.
